It's
a pleasure to recommend this CD by my old friend Ivor Hopkins, who is on the
staff of the Bible College of Wales. It's called Heart to Heart
(IH001).
If you're looking for something modern, cool and thumpety-thump,
forget this. It's just Ivor singing straight Christian songs with an
unobtrusive keyboard accompaniment. But it's great inspirational stuff, sung
with power and conviction (and superb diction) in Ivor's great tenor voice.
The guy's into his 70s now, but you'd never know it from his tonal quality
and range.
Most of the tracks are traditional hymns; a few are from
living
composers; and a couple are words that Ivor himself has put to classical
melodies. All have been broadcast on the Heart to Heart radio
programme on UCB Europe. The tracks are:
- Father me (G.Kendrick)
- All that thrills my soul is Jesus (T.Harris)
- We welcome you, Holy Spirit (C.Orr)
- Wonderful grace (J.Pantry)
- Got any rivers? (O.C.Eliason)
- Eternal morning is breaking (I.Hopkins/classical)
- All scenes alike (Guyon/classical)
- Since you were precious (A.Price)
- That man of Calvary ((M.P.Ferguson)
- Out of my bondage (W.T.Sleeper/G.C.Stebbins)
- Let all mortal flesh keep silent
(Liturgy of St James)
- Turn your eyes on Jesus (C.Orr)
- Spirit, we need a touch from you (C.Orr)
- The old rugged cross (G.Benard)
- God be in my head (Anon/H.W.Davies)
- Hasten the final day (I.Hopkins/classical)

The fact that the CD is a local production doesn't mean
poor quality; it's a professional recording. It does mean, though, that you
can only obtain it directly from the artist, as follows:
